Rhyme 'n Respect

Rhyme ‘n Respect has been produced by WOWSafe: three songs aimed at raising awareness of relationship abuse in young people. The project was funded by the Australian Government's Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault Initiative through the Office for Women.

The Respectful Rap Project which produced this CD, was a great challenge to two young singer songwriters, Matthew Gerlach and Clare Agar. Matthew is a Rap and Hip Hop artist and Clare is more classically trained and she also likes to sing Rhythm and Blues.

They were employed by WOWSafe: Women of the West for Safe Families to write the music and lyrics of rap songs to raise the awareness in young people about domestic abuse. They consulted WOWSafe women, who have all experienced violence and then composed three songs which are a fusion of Rap, Hip Hop and R and B.
