HISTORY OF WOWSafe WOWSafe developed in South Australia, from the long running Parks Women’s Support Group for women who have survived domestic abuse. WOWSafe was first funded in 1993 through the Parks Safety Network. It has won an Australian Violence Prevention Award in 1995, a National Community Links Award in 1998 and an Australian Violence Prevention Certificate of Merit in 2000. In a nutshell WOWSafe provides a supported project with which women who have been abused can reclaim their lives and turn their helplessness and anger into constructive powerful activities such as assisting others, raising community awareness and altogether making a significant difference in our society.
